Let's be clear, why not showing all data & graphics on the cover?
FROM A COMPLEX CATALOGUE TO A TOOL
It was the very first time in 35 years that the client would go with a cover that would not have a photography, but there was no other possible choice. All the graphics and data displayed inside the catalogue are visible upfront, and that was the concept and the idea for the catalogue, to be able to display and understand a lot of complex information in a much clear way.
Barcelona – 2019.
British Summer specializes in linguistic experiences abroad, very specifically on students that they wish to exchange a term or even a whole academic year, very far from their homes, learning not only a language but a whole new culture.
Therefore a catalogue that explains that has to be clear, agile, dynamic but formal and appealing for teenagers and parents. A combination of typographies was chosen to have that contrast, a classic and very british Caslon typeface, combined with a quite modern but clean sans serif.
A color code was implemented and a displacement of many information was chosen in very specific consistent places so parents can see and have information not only from the school but also from the location where the school is placed, as small peaks of curious information about the town.
Also a selection of local fauna was chosen, an animal to represent each country and would be displayed in the extra info box that might appear or not on the layout.
